DH: "I was thinking about covering one of your songs and began thinking about your album "That Was Now, This Is Then." I remembered the song "Pretty Black Marks" really grabbed my fascination. I decided to make a version based purely on what I remembered, without re-listening to the original. I didn't try to recreate the original because I thought it would be interesting to see the evolution of a song after it has been released from it's creator, entered the consciousness of a listener and existed in some state of background cognizance."
